Rob Faust gave up a promising career in monster truck racing to become a dj.

Somehow, things turned out wrong, and 10 years later he’s still blowing mixes and minds.

His dancefloors are about shaking ass, and he’ll pull out all the stops to get a room off. Jazz, soul, rhythm and blues, disco, hip-hop, breaks, jungle, bossa nova, northern soul, rock, house – it all goes in the mix.

This delicatessen of sound has opened for Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings, Bonobo, Amon Tobin, Llorca, Antibalas, Beady Belle, and the late Otis Redding. (Whoa, well maybe he’s not that old…)

Check out his nights – Mod Club (with DJewel) at the Bamboo Tiki Room on Thursdays, Flashlight Fridays (with Sideshow Sid) at the Hi Fi Club, then MOJO at the Bamboo on Saturdays. You can check out the Electric Company every Tuesday at 2pm on CJSW 90.9 FM.

Rob’s guilty pleasures include peanut butter, late night dining, Volvos, bowling shirts, and any watering hole with tropical décor.

His most recent day job is Interzone Customs Inspector. Smugglers beware, for Rob’s keen nose sniffed out 45 kilos of cocaine in a boxcar of sheep’s wool. Prior to this, he was Minnie the Moocher’s chauffeur, a dishwasher at the Cotton Club, doorman at the Wiggan Casino, third backup sax with Motown, and ashamed UN weapons inspector.

He has written articles for FastForward, The Straight, Vox, Playboy, Rolling Stone, Down Beat, Billboard, Field and Stream, and Women’s Wear Daily. His ground breaking 1992 Pulitzer Prize winning novel “What Comes After A?” sold 2 million copies, and is in print in 38 languages.

Rob’s pet peeves include the 80’s, hair bands, wanky guitar solos, the red mile, rednecks, fundamentalists, turntable bumping drunks, and anything on TV ending in ‘Idol’.
