Miles Clark

Miles Clark was born in Kitchener, Ontario but was raised in Calgary for the better part of his life. During his upbringing Miles developed an interest in a wide variety of musical styles and it was through this exploration of music that Miles realized he had a special affinity towards Hip-Hop. To be more specific, what he loved about Hip-Hop was its ability to naturally blend simple drum beats with a variety of musical styles like jazz, soul and funk.

About 7 years ago, Miles started to hit up the underground club scene in Calgary and became a regular at venues such as the Embassy and the Night Gallery. It was at Dj Rice's Sunday Skool that Miles was introduced to House music and from that moment on he was hooked. Miles made an instant connection between the versatility of Hip-hop and the deep soulful vibes that he would hear every Sunday down at the Gallery.

Miles was introduced to Djing in the year 2000 through an old friend and he knew from the first time he was in front of a set of decks that mixing would become a serious passion in his life. It wasn't long before he purchased his own set of tables and started a record collection; of course focusing on House and Hip-Hop. When Miles developed his Djing skills to a level where he felt he could play out in public he looked to one person for help. By then Dj Rice had become a mentor for Miles and gave him the opportunity to open for him at a variety of venues throughout the city.

Miles now lives in Vancouver completing his degree in Engineering while pursuing his ambitions as a Dj. Hip hop, House, Funk, and Soul are the main influences that Miles now draws upon to create his mixes. To understand further just give his mix a listen.
