The Vintage Swing Revue's addiction to DJing began 10 years ago while attending a tiny, cultural melting pot highschool in Melbourne, Australia. Every day, he was privy to an agressive, eclectic soundclash that took place on the school's communal soundsystem. Here he fell in love with jungle, hiphop, reggae, jazz, and house. The Vintage Swing Revue became obsessed with DJing and the Melbourne rave scene. He would wash local DJs' dishes just to practice on their turntables for a few minutes and he would sneak into raves and dance all night at every opportunity.
The Vintage Swing Revue moved back to Calgary in 2000 and immediately started collecting records. He bought a pair of rusty old turntables from Rob Faust and began meticulously honing his skills on the decks. From 2002 to 2005, The Vintage Swing Revue played regularly at The Embassy, The Bamboo, and The Cherry Lounge. He held down a residence at Reload Fridays at the Sambuca Lounge from 2004 to 2005.
Then The Vintage Swing Revue left his life in Calgary behind to work for a video game studio in Vancouver. With a healthy disposable income, an abundance of used record stores, and over 160 rainy days each year, The Vintage Swing Revue used to spend entire weekends digging for all the old soul, jazz and funk he could find. Inspired by the vibe at all his favorite spots back in Calgary, The Vintage Swing Revue began to produce his own music, twisting the dusty old sounds from his funk collection into futuristic original compositions. In 2006, The Vintage Swing Revue rocked the crowd at the legendary Lotus Lounge in Vancouver with an unforgettable set of his own tracks.
Now The Vintage Swing Revue is back in Calgary and things have never been better. He is rocking dancefloors all over the city, his tracks are getting played by the likes of Rob Faust, Sideshow Sid, DJ Moonlips, Reed Rock and The Lotus Queen, and his music was recently offered a home at the legendary Giant 45 record store.
He loves to get a dancefloor rocking and go on a seamless journey through all of his favorite funk, soul, hiphop, jazz, and jungle.
